Ndumo Game Reserve
Ndumo is renowned for its bird diversity (its bird list
exceeds 400 species). The areas around the hutted camp and along the
road to the viewing tower supports a wide variety of woodland birds,
including Green-capped Eremomela and Red-billed Helmet Shrike.
| Search the Mahemane Bush area for Neergaard's Sunbird
and Pink-throated Twinspot. African Broadbills can be heard anywhere
along the road to Red Cliffs or at the Red Cliffs picnic area itself. The famous Nyamiti Pan drive is scenic and rewarding for
waterbirds. Scan the fever trees fringing the pan for Sooty
Falcon. |

Recommended guided walks include the Shokwe Pan during
which you will hopefully see Southern Banded Snake Eagle, Green Coucal and
African Broadbill. On the North Pongola walk you may spot African Finfoot,
Pel's Fishing Owl and Nerina Trogon.
