Ndumo Game Reserve

Ndumo is renowned for its bird diversity (its bird list exceeds 400 species).  The areas around the hutted camp and along the road to the viewing tower supports a wide variety of woodland birds, including Green-capped Eremomela and Red-billed Helmet Shrike.

Search the Mahemane Bush area for Neergaard's Sunbird and Pink-throated Twinspot.  African Broadbills can be heard anywhere along the road to Red Cliffs or at the Red Cliffs picnic area itself.

The famous Nyamiti Pan drive is scenic and rewarding for waterbirds.  Scan the fever trees fringing the pan for Sooty Falcon.

  Pink Throated Twinspot

Recommended guided walks include the Shokwe Pan during which you will hopefully see Southern Banded Snake Eagle, Green Coucal and African Broadbill. On the North Pongola walk you may spot African Finfoot, Pel's Fishing Owl and Nerina Trogon.

Directions to get there
